Sunyani, Sept 1, GNA - Voting in the District Level Elections (DLE) was generally peaceful in the Sunyani Municipality, but unimpressive, as voter response had not been impressive since voting began at 0700 hours.

This was because 85 out of 940 registered voters at the Victoria Park 'B' polling station of the Ahenboboano Electoral Area in the Sunyani town centre had cast their votes as at 1144 hours.

Forty-three of them were males and 42 females
Mr. Evans Arthur Ofori, Presiding Officer (PO) of the Electoral Area told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that interest of the electorate was very low, but that the voting process was peaceful.

Mr. Ofori, however, said there was no voting for Unit Committee members because only five instead of more than six candidates had filed by the close of nominations, and were therefore declared unopposed, he added.

They were Messrs Daniel Adarkwah, Benjamin Nii Okaija, John Kwame Mensah, Kenneth Kwaku Sarkodie and John Kwadwo Yeboah.

At the Rural Development Store 'B' polling station, as at 1149 hours,79 people had cast their votes, 54 of them males and 16 females.

Mr. Dominic Opoku Annor, the PO, stated and added that 644 registered voters were expected to cast their votes.

Ms. Lydia Adjabeng, PO at the Rural Development Store polling centre where 657 registered voters were to cast their votes, 82 people had exercised their franchise as at 1154 hours.

Forty-four of them were males and 38 females
At Bakers Co-operative Office polling station where Mr. Augustine Kutu was the PO with 431 registered voters in the register, only 58 people had voted as at 1209 hours, 26 of them males and 32 females.
