NPP Wishes Assembly Members Well

Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region have extended their well wishes to all devoted Ghanaians who have availed themselves to contest in today's district assembly and unit committee elections throughout the country.

In a statement singed by the regional director of communications, David Prah, the executives said they believed the aspiring assembly members' decision to contest in the elections would strengthen Ghana’s local governance system and enhance its democratic credentials.

“We are convinced that those who will be elected will bring their expertise on board to promote grassroots participation in our democratic discourse,” the statement underscored.

“It is our fervent hope that all well-meaning voters will exercise their franchise to elect deserving assembly members with utmost diligence and patriotism,' it added.

According to the NPP regional branch, it was looking forward to work with the elected assembly members in January 2017 'to promote our decentralisation structures and to bring development to the good people of Ghana.'

The party observed, 'The essence of democracy is to bring smiles to the faces of the citizenry and this is currently lacking, which a future NPP government will strive to restore.'
