Begoro (E/R), Oct. 3, GNA - A 19-year-old mason, Kwabena Amponsah got drawn in the Volta Lake at Odotom, near Begoro, on Tuesday when the canoe in which he was playing with friends capsized. The mother of the deceased, Madam Ama kyerewaa told Ghana News Agency that the son left Begoro last week to work on an on-going school block project at Odotom. She said on Tuesday, news reached her that the deceased and some of his friends closed from work and went to bathe in the lake.
According to her, the report said instead of bathing, the deceased and the friends sat in an unsecured canoe to play, when to their surprise, the canoe let loose and took them to the deep waters. She said, since there was nobody to control the boat in the midst of the wind, it capsized and the son got drawn, while the others swam to safety.
