Rule on all cases on elections by Oct. 14 - CJ

Accra, Sept. 30, GNA - The Chief Justice has directed that all cases pending before the courts related to the December elections should be heard and decisions taken by October 14.

A statement signed in Accra on Thursday by Ms Aku Kutts, Public Relations Officer of the Judicial Service, said the Mr Justice George Kingsley Acquah, has directed the Chief Registrar of the Judicial Service to "ensure that all actions, motions and applications in respect of the December 2004 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections pending in any court in the country are expeditiously heard and decisions taken by 14 October, 2004".

The Chief Justice, therefore, urged Registrars of the courts to issue hearing notices for such cases to be heard not later than October 11 where any of the cases is to be heard beyond the said date.

The October 11 date is to enable the Judges deliver their judgement or rulings latest by October 14.

It urged all Registrars, Staff, Judges and political parties involved to take note and co-operate to make the exercise successful.
