Wassa Akyempim (W/R), Sept. 30, GNA - Mr Francis Ayisi, Assemblyman for Tamso Electoral Area in the Wassa West District, has called on mining companies to assist to raise living standards in communities in which they operate.
He made the call after receiving a quantity of bulbs donated by The Metro Mining Company to the Wassa Akyempim community near Tarkwa, to improve its street lighting system.
Mr Ayisi said mining companies should make it part of their social responsibility programmes to assist communities to improve living conditions.
He thanked The Metro Mining Company for its gesture and expressed the hope that other companies operating in the area would emulate its example.
Mr Seth Quaye, branch manager of the company, who made the presentation, said the donation was in response to an appeal made by the Assemblyman. 30 Sept. 04
