As a result of the expansion work currently going on at the Chamber of Parliament, the 3rd meeting of Members of the House for this year, is to be relocated to the Banquet Hall of the State House.

The expansion of the chamber has been necessitated by the increase in the size of Parliament by the Electoral Commission from 200 to 230 seats beginning from January 2005. Speaking to PeaceFM in an interview at Parliament House today, 27th September 2004 the Public Affairs director of the office of Parliament, Mr. Jones Kugblenu hoped the expansion work will be completed before the next Parliament begins work in January 2005.

According to him, measures have been taken to ensure a smooth relocation of the 3rd Meeting of Parliament to the State House. Mr. Kugblenu also said when the House resumes sitting on October 5th, 2004, it will go on recess quite early to give MPs who want to seek re-election more time to campaign.
