The Minister of State in Charge of Tertiary Education, Ms. Elizabeth Ohene, has subjected herself to public vetting at a rally held at Kpedze last weekend as part of her campaign strategy to solicit the votes of the electorate to win the parliamentary elections in the Ho-West Constituency on the ticket of the NPP.

She answered questions pertaining to the poor road network, declining standards in education and the level of influence in the present government and what she could do to enhance the fortune of the people if elected to Parliament. Some female questioners made a declaration that it was time for women to be elected as MPs in order to champion the cause of women who formed the majority of the society. Ms. Ohene said with victory certain for the NPP in the December elections, it was incumbent on the people to choose her as their MP to give her more power to articulate their problems effectively.

According to her, although she was a minister, there was a missing gap because she was not a representative of the people and therefore had a limited level of influence on articulating their needs. She said all parties had a common goal of national development but the priority and approach of tackling issues varied from party to party, adding that she would tackle education and priority because it was considered the gold of the people.
