Kwahuman Association in New Jersey donates books to schools

Mpraeso, Sept. 26, GNA - The Kwahuman Association of New Jersey in the US, a benevolent society of Kwahu citizens in the city, had presented 1,540 copies of English and Mathematics books worth 45 million cedis to 34 basic schools in 17 communities in the Kwahu South District.

The beneficiary schools included those at Abetifi, Aduamoah, Mpraeso, Enteso, Obo, Bokuruwa and Twenedurase while the JSS are at Pepease, Akwasiho, Bepong, Obo, Adawso Nkwanta and Obomeng.

Mr Maxwell Agyemang Prempeh the vice-president and counsel of the association, who presented the books at a ceremony at Mpraeso on Friday, said the gesture was part of contributions towards the improvement of education in the area.

He gave the assurance that the association would present books to schools in other communities which did not benefit from the package. Receiving the books on behalf of the schools, the District Director of Education, Mr Alfred Osei Kofi, commended the association for the assistance and requested it to provided computers for the basic schools to enable them "belong to the computer age".

The District Chief executive, Mr Raymond Osafo Djan, also thanked the association for the donation and requested the group to continue extend the assistance to other schools in the area.
