Tamale to host National World Tourism Day

Tamale, Sept.16, GNA - The Northern Region will host this year's National celebration of the World Tourism Day, which falls on September 27. The global event is celebrated annually to draw attention to the role tourism play in the socio-economic development of nations.

Mr Ebenezer Ayikwei Hammond, the Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourists Board, who made this known at a media encounter in Tamale, said the theme for the occasion is: "Sports and Tourism, Two Driving Forces for Mutual Understanding and the Development of Societies".

He said traditional games from the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions would form part of the celebration.

Mr Hammond appealed to stakeholders to make the event a success. Mr Ernest Debrah, the Regional Minister, Said the Region was strategic for such an event and assured the participants of maximum security. 17 Sept.04
