Accra, June 16, GNA - Tullow Oil, with its Jubilee Partners, has donated GH¢500,000 to the 37th Military Hospital in support of the victims of June 3, flood and fire disasters.

Mr. Charles Darko, the Managing Director of Tullow Oil said, the donation formed part of the organisation's Corporate Social Responsibility.

'Tullow Oil, as part of the Ghanaian society, cannot sit back unconcerned when people are suffering,' he explained.

He, however, cautioned Ghanaians to be careful during the rainy season, saying, 'Avoid driving or walking through any drain or flood because you may not be sure of its depth. Doing so may lead to drowning.'

The Hospital commended the Jubilee Partners for the support.

Meanwhile, the Government has presented a quantity of medical supplies to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the 37th Military Hospital and Ghana Police Hospital to support the treatment of persons with injuries from the disasters.

A statement released in Accra stated that the Government had also released some funds to the hospitals for the medical bills of treated persons.

Mr Jonny Osei Kofi, the Deputy Chief of Staff, who handed over the 2.5 tonnes of medical supplies, thanked the hospitals for the service they rendered to the victims of the disaster.

He urged the hospitals to inform the government through the Ministry of Health if they required any other forms of assistance.

Colonel M. A. Yeboah Agyapong, the acting Commander of the 37th Military Hospital, thanked the Government for the donation and expressed gratitude to the President John Dramani Mahama for his personal commitment to support the victims of the disaster.

He commended the President for acting swiftly to take the burden off survivors and their relatives as well as the medical facilities.

The Medical Director of the Police Hospital, Deputy Commissioner of Police S. M. Zakariah, also thanked government for the support.
