Ellembelle, June 16, GNA - This year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has taken off smoothly in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, with four pregnant girls taking part.

In all, 1,441 candidates, comprising 805 boys, and 636 girls, are writing the examinations in that district.

The candidates are writing the papers at five centres.

At the Bonzo Kaku SHS, 413 candidates, made up of 203 girls and 210 boys are writing the papers with one male absent.

At the Anyinase Methodist Primary, 234 candidates, comprising 134 boys and 100 girls are taking part in the examinations, with one absentee.

The situation is not different at the Atuabo Methodist Primary, where 143 candidates, made up of 81 boys and 62 girls are writing.

About 324 candidates are also taking part in the examinations at the Nkroful Agricultural SHS, whilst 327 candidates are writing their papers at the Esisma Secondary/Technical School. GNA
