Ahanta West NPP delegates elect a lawyer as parliamentary candidate

Agona-Nkwanta (W/R), June 14, GNA - Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ahanta West have elected Mr Ebenezer Kojo Kum, a lawyer as the parliamentary candidate for next year's parliamentary elections.

He polled 324 votes defeating three other contestants including Kwesi Biney, a journalist who polled 177 votes, John Kwesi Yankey, an agronomist, 128 votes and Kwesi Klutse, a teacher who polled 37 votes.

In all, 666 delegates voted out of 671 with five rejected ballots.

The election which was peacefully conducted was supervised by the Electoral Commission with police maintaining law and order at the venue of the elections.

Mr Kum pledged to form a formidable team with the losing candidates to re-capture the seat from the ruling National democratic Congress in the 2016 general election.

He thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and assured them that he would work assiduously to win the seat and asked for their support to achieve the feat.

The losing candidates congratulated Mr Kum for emerging victorious and pledged to work with him to win next year's parliamentary and presidential elections
