Six Die In Fatal Accident At Asante Mampong

Mampong (Ash) May 11— About people lost their lives when a KIA cargo vehicle with registration number GW 1951-13 drove onto Opel Astra taxi cab with registration number AS 4788-14 just about 500 metres away from Mampong Municipal Assembly junction.

Five of the deceased who were all males were in the Taxi cab and the sixth person was the driver of the KIA cargo car. The bodies have been deposited at the Mampong Municipal Hospital Morgue for autopsy.

According to an eye witness, the accident happened at about 10:30 am on Monday, May 11 just opposite Vodafone Office on the Mampong District Hospital and Mampong Township road.

When the Ghana News Agency contacted the Police Superintendent Yaw Asubonteng, Mampong MTTU Divisional Commander, he said all the two vehicles were travelling from Daaho to Mampong Township when the accident happened.

He said the Police were investigating the cause of the accident and identification of the deceased.

Three of the deceased were identified by some close friends and relatives as Kwaku Owusu, the taxi driver, Yaw Victor Dankwa, recident at Daaho, and Komla Dotomu.
