Dead Men Don’t Talk!

The rage of my high school senior and the many messages of condolence and moaning to a particular name on social media heightened the curiosity I have maintained not to misguide. The name’ Francis Thomas Anderson got internet protocols distending a month ago. I quickly wanted to know what it was about the gentleman and to my utmost stunned; it was about a newly married young handsome man who was shot and killed by armed robbers in the presence of his pregnant wife. What a pity and trauma to the family of Anderson? I could imagine the ordeal of this hard working graphic designer’s family and friend. What I dug about him from a close friend related to him was that, he got married barely three months ago and the residence he was shot at is a new place he relocated to recently. Distraught and disturbing, I describe this situation and wouldn’t want this on anybody ever!

Our security forces maintained with burly assurance and so much noise on police visibility and patrols however, the crime rate has no near end. Some school of thought has attributed the increase in crime on the popular “dumsor” others maintained the economic hardship. When my phone was snatch at Circle –Accra in the glare of a policeman, I was left helpless. A friend point out to me’ Joe! the police on standby there are abetting the crime. What is the disparity between them when they collect monies from offending drivers and the rogues that snatch from people? Let me not divert into that because it might take every paragraph here.

Circumstances surrounding Kwaw Kesse’s manager Fenec Otchere’s death still put me in misery. John Dumelo twitted his encounter about his car being burgled and the operatives asked him not to move or get shot. When I read Senanu Gbedawo’s rage of curses on facebook on the killers of Anderson, I was moved aback and asked myself, what if any of his relatives becomes a spouse to any of these killers? His descending trans-creational curses could affect his sister or brother who will be involved with these people. I don’t want to sound or be misconstrued as pathetic to the killers’ for the fact that I share in the sentiments and pains of the lost of a loved one, brother and a friend. Hearing the news, I cursed myself to waking up to such a story but I contemplated, what on earth will cause a robber to steal and kill at the same time? Could it be hired tugs, ritual murders or what? It dawned on my feelings, if they could steal and kill; then the young man might demonstrate some form of noncooperation or the recalcitrant of an energetic young man. BAM! The police administration confirmed what I felt in their autopsy report. Apparently the police were part of the reason this young man lost his life. The wife said the emergency dials were unreachable and other calls too unanswerable. If there was a prompt response to the numerous calls of a frail wife, Anderson would have survived the attack or breath his last another day.

If Ghana police’s visibility is just to direct ordinary traffic’ then I beseech them to go back to the drawing board and re-strategize their plans, increase night patrols and be available for us in our distress calls. As the police administration has entreated us to be submissive during attacks although we dread the loss of valuables, life is once and valuables could be regained. Haste they say makes waste thus let’s stay calm, succumb, submit and surrender to whatever demands of those callous and cruel creatures, their apprehension is near.

Please men in black and green, I need no sooth-sayer to tell me you are inadequate and your ratio to citizen is woefully derisory but you can still do your best to protect our lives than leave it to rogues to obliterate our existence. We can all do better!!

Rest in peace Francis Thomas Papa Bosomefi Anderson, Fenec Otchere and all others who suffered this unkind fate.
