Two books of Efo Mawugbe launched

Accra, April 22, GNA - Afram Publications in collaboration with Efo Kodjo Mawugbe Foundation on Tuesday launched two books of the late writer.

The books titled 'My Fathers Son' and 'Prison Graduate' is to inculcate into the younger generation the habit of reading and also give them a deeper understanding into Ghana's political system.

The book 'My Fathers Son' authored by the late Efo Kodjo Mawugbe is a story told from a song the father composed and sang to the author when he was young while 'Prison Graduate' is a political satire in Ghana which highlighted situations in Ghana and Africa as a whole.

Prof Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, Minister of Education, speaking at the launch commended the late writer for his great works which had contributed to change the face of literature in Ghana and Africa at large.

The Minister said the Efo Mawugbe was one of Ghana's finest play write and author who allows one to imagine the possibilities in his works.

She thus urged all to grab a copy of the books and read them as the culture of reading is gradually dying in the country.

Prof Agyemang expressed gratitude to Afram Publications for publishing the books to ensure that the works and memory of Efo lives on.

Joseph Aka, member of Efo Kodjo Mawugbe Foundation, noted that in remembrance of the late writer there would be an original choreography on 'In the Chest of a Woman' by 'No Rules' on April 30, at the National Theatre at 1900 prompt and called on Ghanaians to come and watch the exciting display from one of Efo's pieces.
