Sokoohemaa To Stage Prostate Awareness Campaign On Fathers

Melody Kukua Ibrahim, known in the showbiz as Sokoohemaa, a radio and television personality, would be unveiled as a prostate cancer ambassador for Men’s Health Foundation Ghana, a men’s charity fighting against prostate cancer at a press launch on 11 may, 2015 at the Coconut Groove Regency Hotel in Accra.

The Men’s Health Foundation chose Sokoohemaa after taking time to study attitude towards work, her charisma, her love for men diagnosed with prostate cancer, her zeal to raise awareness on prostate cancer, sense of fashion and above all, her marketability prowess, and gave her the notch above other personalities that were closely watched.

Sokoohema will also raise funds for the charity to start offering free prostate cancer screening programs in the country and also acquiring a mobile Van to raise awareness to men in the rural areas.

In her acceptance speech, Sokoohemaa praised the Men’s Health Foundation Ghana for seeing her worthy of pushing them further from Ghana to the world and also raising awareness on prostate cancer.

In her own words, she said, “First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the board and management of Men’s Health Foundation Ghana for having the confidence in me by giving me such a great opportunity to be the prostate cancer ambassador in the country.”

“Raising awareness on prostate cancer and offering free screening programs has been a dream and thank God today I have been given this platform to save more men prostate from cancer so that the men in our lives don’t sleep on duty, as I realized that prostate cancer treatment affects our men sex life’s and about 76% of all men suffer from either permanent or temporal erectile dysfunction and it can go on to 95% after surgery.

This was an eye opener to me so I am urging all Ghanaian men and women to join me to raise awareness and offer free screening programs in the country.

Closed to about 1,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer yearly and closed to about 800 men died yearly. 1 in 5 Ghanaian and 1 in 4 black men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime according to Men’s Health Foundation Ghana and Prostate Cancer UK findings.

Being the first Prostate cancer ambassador in Ghana, I will do my outmost best professionally and personally to project the Men’s Health Foundation Ghana and raise awareness and mobilize funds to offer the free screening programs in the country to positively achieve its mission in Ghana, as black men are more prone to prostate cancer” she added.

Men’s Health Foundation Ghana is the biggest men’s charity in the country raising awareness on prostate cancer and providing screening programs in the country.

The charity intends to reduce the prostate cancer related mortality rates in the country by 2025 and has set up their research lab in Dodowa, Akoto House where it will be use for the free screening program and the churches and communities.

They have expert in prostate cancer. They work with men affected by prostate cancer by providing them with relevant information regarding prostate cancer treatment and supporting them with the right use of alternative medicine. The project is in collaboration with Amansan Television.
