Tigo launches Samsung S6 and S6 Edge smartphones

Accra, April 16, GNA - Tigo Ghana has become the first telecommunications company to introduce onto the Ghanaian market the latest Samsung flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

The offer comes with free 15GB mobile data and a flexible 12-month payment plan in partnership with Stanbic Bank Ghana.

Mr Tara Squire, Head of Mobile at Tigo Ghana, said at the ceremony that the launch of the phones on the Tigo network was in line with plans to promote a 'digital lifestyle' among all social classes

He said both devices support fast charging, and could offer up to four hours of usage time after only 10 minutes of charging.

'They also feature Samsung's Ultra Power Saving Mode, which can keep the phone operational when the battery level hits the danger zone, 'he said.

The Galaxy S6 Edge also has an advanced lighting technology which emits exclusive lights from the edges that are colour-specific to various contacts and caller groups.

He said apart from the 12 months-long free 15GB data, all customers who pre-order the latest Samsung phones would also walk away with a free wireless charger.

Mr Squire said the popular, "Drop That Yam" campaign, was to encourage the use of mobile internet among most Ghanaians, adding that, the introduction of the Galaxy S6 range would take the experience to another level.

He said with various channels on the Tigo platform, customers could stream and download music as well as explore other functions on the phone that would enable them to enjoy the device and data package.

'The functionalities of this stylish phone is beyond compare,' he said. 'It very well suits the busy lifestyle of our high valued customers and with our reliable internet and improved network coverage, Tigo will keep customers confidently connected to enable them do more'.

Mr Squire said its digital lifestyle campaign, the opening of Tigo Experience Centers across the country and the introduction of the Galaxy S6 range would impact positively and make Tigo the network operator of choice for customers.
