Obuasi, April 7, GNA - The Obuasi Divisional Police Command has commended the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Adansi North and Adansi South District Assemblies for their immense contributions towards enhancing the work of the Police in the area.

The Obuasi Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Boakye Afful, made the commendation at the 2014 West African Security Services Association (WASSA) get together, organised by the Division at Obuasi.

The Obuasi Municipal Assembly, he said, was putting up a modern divisional police headquarters at Obuasi, while it also pursued efforts to secure decent residential accommodation for police personnel stationed in the Municipality.

The Divisional Commander said the Adansi North Assembly was in the process of buying the now rented building for the Fomena District Police Headquarters.

He said the Assembly had also provided funds for the repair of the patrol vehicle which got damaged while pursuing some armed robbers on the Kyeaboso - Akrokerri feeder road last year.

Mr Afful said the Adansi South Assembly was currently rehabilitating an abandoned building at Adansi Praso for use as a police post to improve the general security in the Adansi Praso area.

The Divisional Police Commander said the assembly was constructing a barracks for the Akrofuom Police on which work was almost complete.

He observed that the three assemblies had demonstrated clearly that policing in the 21st century was a shared responsibility.

He, however, appealed to them to provide the police with more facilities, especially residential accommodation, for personnel in the Division.

The Assistant Commissioner also appealed to the three assemblies to consider putting up more police stations in their respective districts and municipality to enable the residents to gain easy access to police services.
