Accra, August 12, GNA - Soccer fans would be treated to exciting soccer fiesta at the nation's soccer Wembley, the Accra Sports Stadium this weekend, with three matches to be played in two days as the on-going novelty Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Knockout competition completes it first round matches.

The three-game extravaganza has become necessary after GHALCA relocated the match between Real Sportive and Brong Ahafo (BA) United from the El-Wak Stadium to the Accra Sports Stadium. The El-Wak stadium has been released to the Greater Accra Women's Soccer Committee's (GAWSOC) for its Gala competition billed for Saturday and Sunday.

The new development according to Mr Kudjo Fianoo, Administrative Secretary of the Association who spoke with the GNA Sports said the game involving Sportive and B.A United would on Sunday precede the encounter between Accra Great Olympics and Fetteh Feyenoord at the same venue. He said the kick off times for the crucial return games, which qualifies the winners to the next stage of the competition have been fixed for 13GMT and 16GMT respectively.

The Administrative Secretary however said the arrangements for Saturday's showdown between Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals and visiting Berekum Arsenals remain unchanged.

In other games, Kumasi Asante Kotoko will trek to the Sunyani Coronation Park as guest of Tano Bofoakwa in an encounter that favours the Porcupine Warriors irrespective of the venue.

The Fabulous team seem to have one leg on the next stage of the competition having thrashed their opponents 4-1 in the first leg played at the Kumasi Sports Stadium some two weeks ago.

In Obuasi, AshantiGold and Accra Hearts of Oak are expected to sell out a cracker when the two clubs lock horns for the second time in four days to determine their fate in the competition which is opened to only Premier League clubs as a way of keeping them busy while the national league is on break to facilitate some international assignments involving the Black Stars and the Black Meteors.

Though the Phobians emerged the better side when they defeated the Obuasi club 1-0 in the Accra duel, chances on Sunday look even as AshantiGold are expected to play an improved game following the return of "national team rejects" Isaac Amoako and Shaibu Yakubu.

AshantiGold might have lost their influential striking duo of Valentine Atem and Awudu Ronaldo to injuries but indications are that the return of last season's goal-king, Shaibu, can provide arrow head striker George Eranio the needed support to cause wonders in front of their supporters.

Alhaji Grunzah's King Faisal will be hoping to ditch visiting Sekondi Hasaacas at the Kumasi Sports Stadium in the decider as the two settled for a drawn game in the opener.

Okwawu United will surely be missing the services of Nasiru Gani who picked a red card in their first game against Power in Accra where they won the match 1-0 and will still remain favourites at the Mpreaso Park.

It will be interesting to see how Kpando Heart of Lions can overturn the tables in their favour when they host Real Tamale United at Kpando after losing the first leg 4-1 in Bolgatanga.

Just in....
