Accra, Aug. 11, GNA - The Provisional Voters Register is to be exhibited in September for potential voters to crosscheck their details, the Electoral Commission (EC) stated in Accra on Wednesday. Mr Hubert Akumiah, EC Director of Information Communication Technology, said about 85 per cent of the work had been completed on scanning and processing of data captured during the voter registration exercise.

Statistical data, he said, indicated that 7.5 million registration forms out of 10.5 million forms from eight regions had been scanned. Mr Akumiah, who was addressing Journalists on a familiarisation visit to the Commission, explained the scanning process; security modalities; documentation; collation and data entry methods.

He also exposed the Journalists to the EC's technological operations in connection with the use of its computers, scanners, printers, photocopiers and processing of data from registration forms into the computer to enable them to give credible and accurate reports on the Voters' Register.

"The traditional method of processing registration forms wouldn't have been possible looking at the voter population," he said. He said the new scanning process was fast, accurate and reduced cost as compared to the traditional process of scanning the registration forms.

The Director said the new scanning process was able to scan shading and printed work on the registration forms.

Mr Kwadwo Safo Kantaka, EC Deputy Chairman in -charge of Operations, said the visit by media practitioners to study the operations of the EC would enable them to disabuse people's perceptions about the Commission.
