Sunyani, March 30, GNA - Ten in-mates at the Sunyani Central Prisons are set to write the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) slated to begin today Monday March 30.

A close source at the Central Prisons who disclosed this said four inmates also wrote the just ended National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) Proficiency Examination.

The source told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on condition of anonymity that the service was poised to ensuring that inmates were well reformed and contribute to national development after serving their sentences.

It appealed to benevolent and Non-Gvernmental Organisations to support in the registration of inmates for the examinations.

The source condemned the high level of societal stigmatization and discrimination of ex-convicts, a situation it noted was affecting the re-integration of them into society.

It said because of the pubic stigma, many of the ex-convict preferred their 'incarceration than their freedom'
