Nkoranza (B/A), March 24, GNA - A three-kilometre feeder road from Kranka to Baafi in the Nkoranza North District has been awarded on contract for rehabilitation at the cost of GH¢256,839.49.

The project under the Ghana Social Opportunity Programme (GSOP) would provide employment for 140 young men and women, comprising 43 males and 97 females selected from the two communities.

Mr. Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomor, Nkoranza North District Chief Executive (DCE) who cut the sod for the commencement of the project at Kranka, urged the people not to play party politics with development programmes in the community.

Mr. Agyei-Dwomor expressed concern about the level of apathy by a section of the youth in the area towards the successful completion of development projects executed by governments and appealed to the people to desist from such negative attitude.

He said the GSOP was aimed at assisting the unemployed youth to be engaged in projects like the Kranka-Baafi one and therefore stressed the need for the people to support the contractor to produce quality work.

Mr. Oscar Osei, ex-Assemblyman for Kranka Electoral Area, commended the Nkoranza North District Assembly for providing a number of development projects in the area.

He appealed to the DCE to extend electricity tothe newly-developed areas of the town.

Nana Okofo Amisare, Akwamuhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area and Odikro of Kranka, said the award of the contract was long overdue, adding that the poor state of the street was causing soil erosion in the community.

He assured the contractor of the community's support.
