Unquestionable facts and reports emanating from Yendi, Northern Region, point to the effect that authorities of the Yendi Community Nursing School, are having a field day extorting monies from would-be nurses in broad day light which has created tension in the area.

ModernGhana has been reliably informed that the school authorities are demanding payment of GHC450 per head from about 134 trainees before releasing examination results and certificates.

Sources claimed that authorities say out of the total GHC450, GHC250 is meant for their service postings while the other part of the amount GHC200 is seen as cut of a token to show appreciation to authorities.

Further probing revealed that the school authorities have so far mobilised some undisclosed illegal funds through Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) Account Number 8031000112666401.

To make matters worse, the principal has even come out to offer discounts of GHC50 for the first 40 students who are able to pay first.

The trainees have therefore been compelled to pay since they also need their examination results to assess their personal performances at the nursing school.

The examination results were released by the Midwifery Council to all the various community health institutions but trainees have been denied their exams results until they pay the amount in question.

Some parents have been very worried about the matter since the school administration is likely to amass a whopping GHC28,600, that is should each of the 134 trainees pay the cash as requested.

"Checks from Tamale Nursing Training School established nothing of this sort is happening which has raised widespread suspicion," a concerned parent spoke on strict conditions of anonymity told ModernGhana.

"What is even more annoying is that after paying the money, they give them the certificates to go and photocopy themselves and return a copy for the office."
