Kumasi, Aug 6, GNA- Mr Kwame Amo Darko, National President of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), on Friday launched the first ever Website of the association.

The design and development of the website, which cost about 45 million cedis, was undertaken by Pamey Computer Systems, a website development, consultancy and web technology training company at Tema. The website would provide the background of the GNAT, pages for suggestions and registration for membership of the association. Launching the Website in Kumasi at the close of a three-day national GNAT Council meeting, Mr Darko called on teachers to make use of the facility to enable them to have easy access to relevant information to improve the quality of their work.

He said as educationists teachers are to be at the forefront of up-to-date information and knowledge and without being part of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), it would render that vision of teachers impossible.

Mr Philip Gamey, Chief Executive Officer of the Pamey Computer Systems, said plans were far advanced to train teachers on how to use the website for teaching purposes.

He said each member of the GNAT would be given E-Mail while efforts would also be made to help them network with educational institutions in the US and Canada.
