President Kufuor has advised lodge societies to come out and educate the public on their role to help erase the erroneous impression that they are secret entities.

He said, in the past, the general public suspected that lodge societies had something to hide and it was for that reason why they conducted their activities in obscure places.

He gave the advice when a delegation from the District Grand Lodge of Ghana, English Constitution, yesterday paid a courtesy call on him at the Castle, Osu in Accra to inform him of the death of Brother Ben Kwesi Otoo, District Grand Master of the Free Masons.

Brother Otoo, 78, died from injuries he sustained in an accident last Sunday, August 1, in Accra.

The delegation also informed the President of the scheduled visit to Ghana by Brother Peter Lowndes, the third in command of the Free Masons to grace the installation ceremony of a new grand master to replace the late Brother Otoo.
