Kumasi, Aug 3, GNA- The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commended the police for the adequate security provided at the launch of its manifesto in Kumasi last Saturday. A statement signed by Mr Kwame Nti-Fordjour, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Party, described as "remarkable", the sense of professionalism exhibited by the police during the occasion. It said the NDC was therefore grateful to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Regional Police Command and urged the service to keep it up.

The statement was also full of praise for the NDC flag bearer, Professor John Atta-Mills, former President Jerry Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu and Dr Obed Yao Asamoah, the National Chairman, as well as the national executives, and the rank and file for the success of the function. The NDC, however, did not take kindly to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) for removing its banners and flags on what it termed "the flimsy excuse that we did not obtain permission from the assembly". "Even if what we did was not right, we believe, the way out was not to remove our flags and banners," the statement added.
