Toronto Fundraising involving Offinsohene Falls below Expectation
06.08.2004 LISTEN

On Saturday July 17th at Panemonte Banquet and Convention Hall in Etobicoke, Toronto, Nana Wiafe Akenten III the Paramount chief of the Offinso Traditional area was a special guest of honour for a fundraising dinner. The Families of Today For Tomorrow, a Toronto based non- profit organization organized the event in support of the establishment of a Computer Laboratory and educational support center for the Youth in the Greater Toronto Area. The function failed to live up to expectation due to poor planning and management on the part of the organizers. The poor attendance at the ceremony was so disheartening that the Offinsohene could not hide his disappointment. He lamented that even his own people ( Offinso Association in Toronto) failed to attend.
The Offinsohene who is also a Paramount Chief in the Ashanti Kingdom in Ghana called on Ghanaians abroad to invest in their kids' future. "Let's not only contribute to bury the dead, but also contribute for a down payment on houses for our kids who graduate from our universities and colleges", he said. Source: Ghanaian News Canada
