Ho, Aug. 2, GNA - The body odour of a 20-year-old farmer, Raymond Ayeh Ensior gave him away when he attempted to rape Madam Vicentia Kwao in her sleep at Tsome-Afedo, near Anfoeta in the Ho District.

Ensior, who pleaded guilty to indecent assault, unlawful entry and causing damage, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment by a Ho Circuit Court presided over by Mr Nicholas Abodakpi.

When the case was called the audience in the court could not help but shout "Scent nooo!" - A popular hit song by Cindy Ofori. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector V. G Agadzi told the Court that in the evening of January 26 Ensior sneaked into Madam Kwao's bedroom while fellow tenants including her husband, a Teacher, were watching a football match on television on the compound.

He said Ensior undressed in the couple's living room and entered the bedroom where Madam Kwao was fast asleep, removed her cover cloth and panties and attempted to rape her.

Chief Inspector Agadzi said Ensior's approach was unusual to Madam Kwao, who asked: "Teacher why in a hurry this time? Take your time" The Prosecution said Madam Kwao also noticed that the body odour of Ensior was not that of her husband and, therefore, raised then alarm, compelling Ensior to take to his heels naked knocking down pieces of furniture in the room.

Chief Inspector Agadzi said Ensior, who ran into the nearby bush, was pursued and apprehended.

Before his sentence, Ensior said he was under a curse by his grandmother and that prior to this case he had raped his stepmother, which incident was amicably resolved at home.
