Omanhene expresses concern about inability to track-down ritual

murderers

Beyin (W/R), Aug 1, GNA - Awulae Annor Adjaye III, Omanhene of Western Nzema Traditional Area, on Friday expressed concern about the inability of the Police to investigate a number of ritual murder cases in the area.

Speaking when Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister, called on him on Friday at Beyin as part of her three-day visit to the Jomoro District, Awulae Adjaye said the Police have not arrested or questioned anyone in connection with the incidents. He said there was no Police station in the traditional area, which was not in the best interest of peace and security. "Policemen in the district must be transferred and replaced with those who can handle ritual murder and fraud cases more efficiently".

Awulae Adjaye appealed to the government to ensure that Poverty Alleviation Funds were disbursed to the poor instead of the well to do and said organised groups should be given the preference to promote the establishment of micro projects to enhance wealth creation. He suggested that District Assemblies should be given the responsibility to equip the youth with employable skills to retain them in their areas to assist in the implementation of development projects.

Madam Horner-Sam called on traditional rulers to complement the efforts of the Government to develop the country. She expressed concern about the bad state of the Bailey bridge over River Eloyin in the area and announced that a new one would be constructed soon.
