Old students present cheque to teaching staff

Kumasi, July 31, GNA - The Old Students Association of Kumasi Academy (KUMACA) on Friday presented a cheque for 10 million cedis to the teaching staff of the school to motivate them to continue giving of their best. The presentation of the cheque was in fulfilment of a promise the association made at the school's speech and prize-giving day in appreciation of the school's performance in the 2003 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations.

The school placed 23rd nationwide out of the 476 schools and came second after Achimota School in the mixed schools grading. Two executive members of the association, Mrs Beatrice Ennison, Treasurer and Mr Osei Bempa, secretary, presented the cheque on behalf of the group.

Mrs Beatrice Addo, Headmistress, who received the cheque on behalf of the teachers, commended the association for its contribution towards the development the school. She also lauded the old students for recognising the good work of the teachers and expressed the hope that they would continue to assist the school. Mrs Addo appealed to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to provide the school with a vehicle to facilitate teaching and learning. Mr Joseph Nketia Berchie, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the school, appealed to the Government to provide more infrastructure for the school.
