Let’s Watch Our Tongues

Lets Watch Our Tongues
11.02.2015 LISTEN

Dear Mr. ignorant! The rightful mammalian part to speak with is the mouth but from the brain. No any word from other body part makes sense especially when your senses is drawn from your 'bottom'. Sometimes people avoid speaking not because they have got nothing to say but for the fear of hurting the sensibilities of others.

Barely a week ago, an article was published on the web page of 'ModernGhana.com' precisely the 03/02/15 which was titled “Government students on scholarship in morocco petition Hannah Tetteh”. The said letter was unanimously condemned by Ghanaian students throughout the kingdom. The said letter never in any form represented ENTIRELY the sole realities on ground. It was just a calculated bunch of chaff obviously aimed at satisfying the parochial interest of the author/authors. I personally once again condemn that unprofessional work for it was entirely a unilateral view.

Notwithstanding this, I witnessed a number of views expressed beneath the work in the form of comments. In fact, some of the comments were so infuriating that I just had to put across this talk.

Notable among the comments that attracted my attention was that of the one expressed by one “AWURADEBASA”. In fact, that man/woman totally forgot that the article was not about religious debate and that neither Jesus nor Mohammed had anything to do with that write up. He (I mean son of Adam; I am not anti-feminist) ignorantly pointed accusing fingers at Islam by reacting to another's comment that “No wonder you may be a brain dead follower of that devil Mohamed”. Devil mohammed? Anyways, I think this should be blamed on parenting. Because you do not need pastor Mensah Otabil to tell you that the comment is counter-religious, anti-Islamic, unethical and totally abusive to the entire 1.5billion innocent Muslims across the globe. He 'lionly' reacted because of the name “KARIM” (a supposed Muslim name Abdul Karim) given by his target but One thing he failed to understand is that, people, just like himself always remain anonymous on comment boxes and could choose any group of alphabets as a name.

Anyway, It is not my motif to bore anyone defending Muslims But I think it is imperative to know that 'Hypocrisy and double standards' is the catalyst of our world problems today.

The issue is that, This Mr. “AWURADEBASA” did not end there. He continued to say that: “The only way the government would send our children to study in Morocco is when we need SUICIDE BOMBERS”. Like seriously Mr. AWURRADEBASA?

I wish I had the means to fly you over to the kingdom. So that you get acquainted with the development gap that exist between mother Ghana and the kingdom of morocco.

Not only would you be marveled by the 'optical paparazzi' of good roads, good buildings, good hospitals, good schools, clean environment, good water and electricity supply but also in fact good governance that seeks the welfare of ordinary citizens and not 'Ogas-at the top-benefits' type of governance.

The citizens of morocco do not know 'dumsor'. The maximum power outage I have witnessed so far in my two and half years in morocco is 5 minutes. Despite this power stability, a solar project is underway which is tipped to be one of the world number one solar energy projects on completion. As for water, NEVER! I am sorry to say that I got disappointed in Ghana the very first day I landed in Accra (the supposed-to be-paradise of Ghana). Not only was I 'terroristically' shaken by car on the pot-holes, not only was I welcomed by the smelly-choked gutters, not only was I fed up with the 'every minute' traffic, but also the ceaseless acute water shortages that characterized my 3 month stay. It is worthy to mention that less of these exist in morocco if not NONE.

It is never and will never of course be my intention to malign the Star of Africa; Ghana my motherland neither am I insinuating that Morocco is better than Ghana. But, talking of education, I believe that granted Ghana has the best of institutions of higher learning without the fundamental conditions to ensure teaching and learning, then there is a big question mark somewhere to fix. Morocco operates on free education right from crèche to any institution of higher learning (YES! I am telling you if you were absent minded on that). How they operate this may surprise you the more.

The driving force of the Moroccan economy is phosphates and Agriculture and taxes (Phosphates being the only natural resource). Mr. AWURADEBASA, Are you telling me that this is better than our gold? our cocoa? Our timber? Our bauxite? Our Iron ores? Our manganese? (maybe you should pocket your answer) because it is NOT! And just to remind you! Morocco in among 'the first seven best African economies' (you can check that for yourself)

I am yet to meet a course in academia in morocco called “SUICIDE BOMBING” as you ignorantly mentioned Mr. “AWURADEBASA”.

The short of this long story is that “let's watch our tongues” especially on public platforms.

“When the long mouth of a dog is insulted, crocodile in the sea equally gets affected”

GOD BLESS OUR HOMELAND GHANA! And correct these hypocrites. Ameen!
