As part of their grand design to win the forthcoming elections by fair or foul means, the opposition NDC has covertly formed a new youth group in the Ashanti Region.
The new group, called the United Youth Congress (NYC) which is made up of former members of the Verandah Boys and Girls Club, some disaffected youth and others will be charged with doing NDC's dirty work in the NPP stronghold of Ashanti Region in the run-up to the December Presidential and parliamentary elections.
Confidential sources close to the leadership of the UYC revealed that the congress was started as a pressure group within the NPP but has now been hijacked by the NDC as part of their game plant to wreak chaos and havoc when they lose the elections. The sources revealed that certain key NDC personalities are in touch with the leadership of the UYC and the names of the MP for Prampram, Mr E.T. Mensah and Baba Jamal, Deputy General Secretary of the NDC surfaced. The source revealed that, the group was stated by disaffected NPP youth who wanted to pressure the gov't for jobs but somewhere along the lines, monies started appearing mysteriously and the aims of the group changed suddenly.
The source revealed that the pool of disaffected youth in the NPP stronghold was a god sent opportunity for the NDC to exploit and they had now been financing the congress.
Last Tuesday, ex-head of state Jerry Rawlings was alleged to have visited Kumasi to strategise with the leadership of the UYC but their exposure probably scared them from meeting the ex-president. It was revealed that the NDC has embarked on a campaign to brainwash the UYC members against the NPP and incite them to violence.
