By Angela Amenyo, HAPPY FM

Junior Doctors of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has set up a five member committee to team up with representatives of the Health Workers Association of Ghana to meet the Minister of Health on Monday, the 26th of this month to continue with negotiations for better working conditions of service. Monday's meeting has becomes necessary following the decision by the junior workers to call off the strike they embarked on yesterday in protest against what they perceived as distortions in the Ghana Universal Salary Structure (GUSS).

As result of the strike, the junior doctors resolved to attend to only in- patients, while continuing the negotiations with the Ministry of Health. The Public Relation Officer of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Mustapha Salifu in an interview with HAPPY FM said the various factions are expected to come out with a definite position to satisfy the demands of the junior Doctors. He said the various departments of the Hospital are working smoothly following the resumption of work by the doctors. Mr. Salifu was hopeful that the negotiations will be fruitful to forestall such strikes in the future.
