Twifo Praso (C/R), July 19, GNA- The Twifo-Heman-Lower-Denkyira District Directorate of Education is to encourage dedicated non-professional teachers to gain admission into the teacher-training professional training.

Ms Regina Victoria Longdon, the District Director of Education announced this at the closing ceremony of a four-day workshop for 87 participants from the district at Twifo Praso in the Central Region. The participants were taken through methods of teaching, the use of teaching materials and how to help reduce the HIV/AIDS in their areas. Ms Longdon said they would be given financial and technical assistance to enable them to improve their academic standards either in the training colleges or in the universities.

Mr Jeremiah Badu, Co-ordinator of the workshop, said the 87 teachers who participated in the workshop, formed the first batch of 300 non-professional teachers to be trained in the district. He said the workshop was a follow up to a similar one held recently for headteachers of primary schools in the district.
