17.07.2004 LISTEN
By GNA

Accra, July 17, GNA- An Accra High Court on Friday restrained the Construction and Building Materials Workers Union (CBMWU) of Trades Union Congress (TUC) from holding its 8th quadrennial delegates conference scheduled for July 19 to 21, this year at Cape Coast. The court, presided over by Mrs Felicia Amoah, slapping the injunction on the Union, said reasons for the order would be given on July 30, this year.

Mr Aaron Lartey, an Industrial Relations Officer of the Union filed a writ on July 12, this year, at the court praying it to stop the holding of the conference because the National Executive Council of the Union was acting "unconstitutionally".

Meanwhile Mr Peter Michael Quainoo, General Secretary of the Union has apologised to all Ministers, officials and delegates any inconvenience the postponement might have caused them. He said further developments would be communicated to them.
