9.8 million cedis taxi rank commissioned

Tarkwa (W/R), July 17, GNA- A 9.8 million cedis taxi rank at Cyanide Estate, a suburb of Tarkwa was commissioned at a ceremony on Tuesday.

Funds for the project were mobilised by the area's Unit Committee and Mr. Robert Affum-Fianko, assembly member for the area through voluntary contributions from residents.

Mr. Samuel Kofi Sackey, chairman of the taxi branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), commissioning the project, commended the people for cooperating with their leaders to make the project a reality.

He advised them not to depend solely on the Government but pull their resources together and initiate more projects to improve the living standards of the residents.

Mr. Sackey advised drivers and members of the union to exhibit maturity and accord passengers respect in their operations. Drivers should also observe road signs and traffic regulations to avoid accidents.

Mr. Affum-Fianko said within the past 18 months, his office had spent 80.6 million cedis to provide a number of projects for the people.
