Suhum (E/R), July 16, GNA - Six persons escaped unhurt when the building in which they were sleeping was partly destroyed by an articulated truck at Suhum on Saturday.

According to the landlord, Mr Ben Acheampong, the accident occurred in the middle of the night, causing the collapse of part of the building with several items worth millions of cedis destroyed.

The driver of the vehicle, Amadu Idrisu and two of his mates who sustained various injuries were treated and discharged at the Suhum Government Hospital.

The GNA was told that the driver was travelling from Kumasi to Accra and on reaching Suhum, there were two stationary vehicles parked in the middle of the road and in an attempt to avoid hitting them, the truck swerved to the side of the road, skidded and rammed into the building.

When the police was contacted, it confirmed the story and said investigations were going on.
