There was an armed attack amidst gunshots on three Nigerian visitors who had come to visit former President Jerry John Rawlings and had travelled to the Upper West Region where NDC flagbearer Professor John Evans Atta-Mills was on a campaign tour. The attack took place at Nyaneba Estate around the night club run by Chester. The attackers made sure that the Ghanaian companion of the visitors, indefatigable Dr. Tony Aidoo of the NDC had left before they pounced in order not to create the impression that the attack had any political motive even though their pronouncements during the attack, warning the driver not to be "foolish" enough to be driving Nigerian friends of President Rawlings who are poking their noses into Ghanaian affairs The entire luggage of the Nigerian visitors as well as documents covering their consultations with Professor Atta-Mills were made away with. The counter-intelligence operatives of certain political parties have traced the armed robbery to the "Peace Seekers International" (PSI), an organization of anti-Rawlings returned self-imposed exiles and former anti-CPP bomb throwers who have jointly set themselves an agenda to cause mayhem and violence in the period leading to the December elections; stage-managed armed robberies being one of the "modus operandi" that they have perfected to employ to intimidate leading members of the opposition, especially the NDC, in order to create an atmosphere of fear and panic in their supporters so that they will not turn up to vote on election day.
