Madam Horner-Sam, who was speaking during the presentation of the Head of State awards to 58 young men and women on Saturday at Sekondi, called on the youth to become useful adults through the various trainings that they would undergo.

She urged the management of the scheme to develop a long-term strategy for young people to enable them play responsible roles in the society.

Mr Jenkins Kwame Awumee, an International Council Member of the Scheme, said Sekondi-Takoradi had exhibited a high level of leadership and zeal since the programme started in 1967 through the initiative of Mr Peter Hookey, formerly of the Sekondi-Takoradi City Council. He said young people were expected to achieve personal goals, learn about leadership, trust and responsibility and apply them in their adulthood.
