Winneba (C/R), July 8, GNA - The Winneba Police on Thursday took custody a Madza car with registration number GR 3750 D, which had been found abandoned near the Uncle Rich Preparatory School at Winneba.

Mr Nicholas Gasu, Winneba District Police Commander who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Winneba said upon a tip-off that the vehicle suspected to be a stolen vehicle had been parked there for some weeks, the police rushed in to send it to the police station. Mr Gasu said the only address on the car painted with white and black

colour is "Darkstest SPA, Accra", and therefore appealed to the owner to provide the necessary documents on the car for collection.

According to Mr Gasu, the police took a similar action recently, which enabled the owner of a stolen Nissan bus to retrieve his car. He said that the police on patrol duties on the main Winneba-Accra road on April 20, this year met the bus with registration number ER 951 P, being driven by one Emmanuel Aidoo without papers.

The Police commander said the police impounded it and asked Aidoo to go and bring the papers but he never returned.

Mr Gasu said upon media reports he made that a vehicle had been impounded by the police, the rightful owner who had earlier reported of his stolen car at the Akim Oda police station, came with the necessary documents and collected it. 8th July 04
