Kumasi, July 2, GNA - The Toronto-Canada branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has donated campaign materials valued at 80 million cedis in aid of the Party's electioneering campaign for Election 2004.

These were made up of 1,200 large portraits of the Flag Bearer, President John Agyekum Kufuor and the NPP's symbol carrying varying election campaign messages.

Mr Yaw Osei Amoako, the Branch Chairman, described the donation as an expression of confidence in the Leadership of the Party. He said they were determined to contribute their quota towards resounding victory for the Party in the elections and invited other overseas branches to play their part.

Mr Amoako used the occasion to appeal to the Executive Arm of Government, Parliament and the Electoral Commission (EC) to make it possible for Ghanaians abroad to vote in the 2008 polls.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr Fredrick Fredua Antoh, who received the materials, stated that the NPP would never use State resources to run its campaign for re-election.

He said the donation attested to the fact that they believed in relying on members' contributions and support to organise their Party. Mr Antoh repeated that the NPP would capture 96 per cent of popular votes in the Region in the elections and said they were grateful for the donation of the materials, as they would make the Party and its symbol visible all over the place.
