A fatal accident took place at Oframanse near Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region in the early hours of Saturday, claiming three lives.

Reports said a Yutong bus travelling from Bawku to Accra with registration number GT 4669 -12, overtaking another vehicle in a sharp curve, collided with a trailer, with registration number GR 2470 W, which was heading to Kumasi from Accra.

The Nkawkaw Divisional Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Commander, DSP Albert Deletsa, told DAILY GUIDE at the accident scene that the driver of the Yutong bus, identified as Obeng; that of the trailer – yet to be identified – and a female passenger by name Mary – who was with a four-year-old baby – died on the spot.

The baby was still alive, but had lost the mother, who was said to be married to a police officer.

He said the injured victims had been sent to the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the casualties had been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.

After the incident another bus was called from Accra, which came to convey the unhurt passengers backed to Accra.

At the time of filing this story on Sunday, reports gathered indicated that one of the injured victims had been treated and discharged whiles about six others were still on admission.
