Otabil Counsels Students On Time

Chancellor of Central University College (CUC), Dr Mensa Otabil, has admonished matriculating students of the college to make good use of their time in their four-year stay on campus.

He told the 'freshers' during the school's 16 th matriculation at its main campus in Miotso near Prampram to seize the opportunity  and make good use of it before they exit the four corners of the school.

Dr Otabil likened campus life to that of two fishes in different habitats- one in a bowl and the other in a lake. He charged the new students to graduate from just swimming in a bowl to the lake.

He advised the 2160 students to be extremely careful regarding time management and the choice they make considering its consequences, depending on whether it is good or bad.

In his exhortation to the students at the school's Trinity Hall auditorium over the weekend, Dr Otabil pointed out that making a bad choice and time mismanagement have the huge potential to ruin their future, and therefore advised that they remain focused and strive for academic excellence.

According to the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGG), 'Your world is in your mind. In these four years, you can decide to swim in the fish bowl or in the lake.

'Twenty years from now, your life will be different and I expect to see you in the prime of your lives, the peak of your lives, and 80 years from now all of us will not be here,  we don't have eternity.

'A lot of temptations like cutting corners, cheating in exam will come your way, but don't grab them because it has the tendency to produce ripple effects that can adversely affect you. Manage your time well, debate and think critically,' he added.

The President of CUC, Professor Kwesi Yankah, said the sciences are gradually taking over the university as was originally envisioned by the founder and the board of regents 'and steps are being taken to strengthen resources needed.'

He also mentioned that one of the university's programmes with huge potential and making considerable waves, and indeed behaving like a mature student is the new degree programme in law.
