NDC supporters urge of comport themselves very well

Winneba (C/R), June 27 GNA - The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDC) Dr Ato Quarshie on Sunday urged supporters of the Party to focus on plans that would enable the Party to win all the 19 parliamentary seats in the Central Region during the December Presidential and Parliamentary elections. To this end, Dr Ato Quarshie advised them to strive to comport themselves in the face of all provocations and desist from acts that would land them in trouble.

Dr Quarshie said this at the Effutu Constituency NDC primaries where the incumbent Member of Parliament, Mr Mike Allan Hammah was re-elected to contest the seat on the ticket of the Party for the third time.

He said as supporters of an opposition party they should be very careful in their day-today activities, especially in this election year, because any little thing they would do that went against the law could place them in an awkward position.

Dr Quarshie reminded all NDC followers of the Party's Flag Bearer Professor John Evans Atta Mills' continued advice to them to always dream and seek peace since peace and love were the most important key to democratic governance and attainment of social and economic progress.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Hammah, who polled 85 votes to beat his contestant, Mr John Simpson, a Private Electrical Contractor, who had 65 votes, pledged that he would not abuse the confidence reposed in him.

Mr Hammah reminded members of the Party of the battle ahead of them for the party to win the seat for the third time running. He, therefore, urged them to co-operate and intensify their individual and collective campaign to ensure total victory for the Party.

Mr Simpson also pledged to co-operate with Mr Hammah to enable the Party to retain the seat in Election 2004.

Mr Nii Ephraim, Effutu Constituency Chairman of the Party, said the executives were determined to do all they could to ensure victory and, therefore, advised members to intensity their grassroots campaign. There were solidarity messages from the representative of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Convention People's Party (CPP) who attended the occasion.
