Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector J.K. Ofori told the court presided over by Mr Jacob Boon that the complainant has a commodities shop, which has a wholesale nearby with the wife as the caretaker.

He said on May 28, 2004 at about 1200 hours, the landlady of the wholesale was sitting in front of her room in the house when she heard a loud noise from the wholesale, and called the storekeeper to come with the wholesale key.

It took the storekeeper about 20 minutes before she came, and when the door was opened, they found out that the ceiling has been broken. Chief Inspector Ofori said a report was made to the police and the accused was arrested, during a search, an olonka tin of rice was found in his room.

During investigations, it was realised that the accused passed through the sister's room, which had no ceiling to the wholesale to steal the rice.
