Registration centres in Tema short of materials

Tema, June 21, GNA - A number of registration centres in parts of Tema are short of photo-taking materials, rendering the registration officials and cameramen temporarily idle.

The centre include the Community One Police Station, Padmore Number 204 B, Twedaase JSS A, Twedaase Number Two, which have since Sunday afternoon been short of materials like films, photo fix and thumb print pads.

Madam Krystle Halm, an Official of the Twedaase JSS Registration Centre A told the Ghana News Agency that those who could not have the opportunity to take the pictures agreed to return at a later date. Mrs Philomena Edusei, Tema Municipal Electoral Officer confirmed to the She claimed that the cameramen normally had to take one person about twice because some of the pictures went bad.

Mrs Edusei, however, stated that the affected registration centre could not work on Monday adding that even though the Electoral Commission would be taking delivery of some materials at Kotoka International Airport on that day they would not be available for use immediately. She said those who would not be covered during the stipulated period would have the opportunity during the mopping up exercise.

At the Padmore Registration Centre 291 registered voters out of 470 had had their photographs taken while 550 out of 783 voters at Twedaase Number Two had been catered for by 1030 hours on Monday.
