DCE Awards Contracts To Wife, Son

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Mamprusi East, Mr David Konlaan Dubique, is facing a catalogue of accusations, which include extortion, awarding contracts to his wife and son, and sharing official vehicles among his cronies.

Mr Dubique is alleged to have awarded two separate contracts for the construction of three-classroom blocks valued at ¢500 million each to his wife and teenage son respectively. The Chief of Bimoba, Mr Jonathan Sieiripo Dapah, who narrated a litany of “the DCE's misconduct” to The Heritage in an interview at Mamprusi last week, revealed that Mr Dubique has been awarding contracts to himself and other NPP regional officials without going through the District Tender Board.

Chief Dapah told The Heritage that since 2001, every KVIP contract is awarded to the Gambaga-Nalerigu Constituency Secretary, Mr Peter Wuni Baga, who he said, is not a contractor but a Disaster Manager for the Assembly. Chief Dapah disclosed that, out of those contracts, Mr Wuni Baga on average, buys a new vehicle every six months, saying “his latest vehicle is a second-hand truck which cost about ¢75 million”.

He alleged that a ¢50 million 10-seater KVIP contract was awarded to Alhaji Abubakari Adam, the Zonal Chairman of the NPP, who in turn sold the contract to Peter Wuni Baga for ¢5 million.

“Three months after completing the 10-seater KVIP, half of the project has collapsed and it is now a death trap for the people of Nayiri”, Chief Dapah lamented.

A ¢123 million contract was also allegedly awarded to the constituency chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Sabokudi, to build a summer hut for the paramount chief of East Mamprusi. The project, Chief Dapah alleged, has collapsed three times since it was awarded last year.
