Nsawora (W/R), June 17, GNA - The Sefwi Wiawso District Assembly on Tuesday presented working tools valued at 17.5 million cedis to the Intermediate Community Centre for Employable Skills (ICCES) at Nsawora. The items include 16 sewing machines, four overlock machines, 40 tape measures, 16 pairs of scissors, 12 box irons and other sewing accessories.

Mr. Joseph B. Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, who presented the items on behalf of the assembly also pledged 150 bags of cement for the rehabilitation of the local community school. This formed part of his three-day tour of the district. The ICCES centre was started in 2002 with 17 students but presently has 35 students who are studying carpentry, sewing, batik, tie and dye and masonry.

Mr. Aidoo appealed to the community to make the education of their children a priority adding, "they are our future leaders and we need to provide them with the necessary facilities to make them succeed in life."

The Regional Minister appealed to the community to avoid acts that could destroy the on-going electrification in the area and urged them to exercise patience while work on the project continues. Miss Evelyn Asare, Programme Manager of ICCES expressed her appreciation to the assembly and the Minister for the items and pledged to make good use of it.

Opanin Kwabena Adjei, a spokesman for the community appealed to the Minister to ensure that work begins on a bridge that spans river Tano adding that if urgent action was not taken, the bridge could collapse and cut the community off from the rest of the country.
