Ghanaian Walkers For UK

Visco Walking Club

The U.K. walking association has invited the Visco Walking Club to participate in a number of competitions between 25th and 18th July 2004.It can be recalled that seven(7)walkers embarked on a similar journey to the U.K in December last year and returned on 7th January 2004.The unfortunate situation however was the fact that the group returned without much to talk about due to the unfavorable weather condition that they faced.A similar invitation was sent to the club as part of its preparation towards the world walking cup in April this year which we could not honor.

This time round the club is doing its best to honor the invitation.A 20km team, made up of Ahmed Tijani Sanni of the Ghana Army(Navy),Stanley Brimah Cape Coast, Eric Kwabena Nuamah, Adjei Boateng, Charles Ntiamoah, Richard Arthu, Eugene Snyper, Bright Seidu. The 50 km team comprises of Vincent Asumang of the Ghana National Fire Service,Kofi Ali, Cape Coast Adjei Boateng, Jeandy Kwofie, Richard Arthur,Michael Boateng.Women's 20km would be represented by Jacqueline Bludo and Sarah Nyarkoh who recently returned from Kenya on an IAAF training camp. The under 12 division will see Rudolf Ato Yankah of Cape Coast Flowers Gay School.Officials who will accompany the team include Mr.James Khofi Tuah and Mr. Francis Halm.

Mr. Mufawu Salami an executive member of the Visco walking club indicated that the club was very grateful to Mr.Peter J Cassidy the honorary general secretary of the U.K walking association for sending down invitation on all the three occasions. The Club's gratitude also goes out to individuals and co-operate bodies who have been helping in the development of walking in Ghana such as Energizer,Voltic,Elephant Ointment,The Net,Biriwa Beach Hotel,Parlays Biscuit and Savoy Hotel.
