Apologies And Reparations To Palestine

10.09.2014 LISTEN
By Colonialism Reparation

Colonialism Reparation calls on Israel, along with the United States of America, the United Kingdom and the other colonial powers of the time, to apologize and pay reparations to Palestine for the current and past colonization.

The last military campaign of Israel against Palestine was fought from July 8 to August 26, 2014 , with the loss of about 65 soldiers and 5 Israeli civilians and about 700 soldiers and 1,400 Palestinian civilians.

The current situation, as Colonialism Reparation stated in a press release published on January 8, 2013, is clearly the result of colonial mentality, which gradually arised with the Balfour Declaration of 1917, during the British Mandate of Palestine from 1920 to 1948, with the Partition Plan for Palestine in 1947 and with the support of the United States starting from the Suez crisis of 1956.

As the president of CRAN (Conseil Représentatif des Associations Noires) Louis-Georges Tin said in an interview published on July 25, 2014, the current situation, is clearly, "a question of reparations. [...] The question of reparations related to the Shoah has been solved, but the Arabs, that had nothing to do with this genocide, bore a part of the burden.

Europe and the United States did the right thing to put in place some post-genocidal reparations, but they realised it in a colonial manner, to the detriment of the 'indigenous' Palestinians, who have never received neither reparation nor compensation. The current colonial contempt (that of Israel, that does not cease to occupy every day new Palestinian territories) adds to the past colonial comtempt (that of Europe and the United States) .”

Colonialism Reparation calls on Israel, along with the United States of America, the United Kingdom and the other colonial powers of the time, to apologize and pay reparations to Palestine for the current and past colonization by finally recognizing the wrongs done to the Palestinian people, by reconciling with its own history of victim and executioner at the same time, by returning to Palestine the occupied colonies and by paying reparations for decades of violence.

Colonialism Reparation is part of the movement for the condemnation, the reconciliation, the apologies and the compensation for colonialism. It was conceived in 2008 by a volunteer of the Italian association "Battito solidale" which, thanks to his frequent journeys to Guinea and Senegal, had the opportunity to realize which disastrous impact the colonialism still had in the daily life of billions of people and how in many nations the current situation is merely its camouflaged continuation.

Colonialism Reparation promotes, supports and spreads non-violent activities aimed to create awareness of the current world situation and thereby to encourage the achievement of its objective

- that the colonizing nations condemn their colonial past recognizing it as a crime against humanity and that the colonized nations exert pressure to make it happen

- that the colonizing nations reconcile with their past, permanently distancing themselves from it by officially apologizing the colonized nations

- that the colonizing nations compensate the colonized nations for the atrocities and abuses committed thus allowing an improvement in their socio-economic conditions.

The contribution of every person who recognizes the importance of this activity to the creation of a climate of friendship and cooperation between peoples is necessary and appreciated. This contribution will create an extremely positive precedent in international relations as well, promoting the supremacy of the "force of law" on the "law of force".
